About Us

We conceived
shurtz early in 2012 to cater for customers who required quality printed garments (and other items) that could conceivably be printed using heat-applied media.

We offer a photo/image transfer and vinyl printing service for all occasions and virtually all garments. Customers can supply the items or we can provide what you require. Let us know how you want each item personalising and we will give you a fixed quotation.

Unusual items such as untreated gazebos, cloth mobile covers, pillow cases, smooth baby-grows, flags and banners are all items we routinely print. If it's made of cotton, polyester, or poly-cotton, chances are we can print it.

Typical products and services we supply include personalised tee shirts for hen and stag parties, safety and corporate wear for businesses, uniforms for sports and social clubs, naming and numbering of football kits, work-wear including tunics for beauty therapists and hairdressers, holiday-wear and general fashion-wear. In fact, we can source just about anything.

If you call on stall at Leigh Market, we can usually recreate your required design on screen there and then for you to check out prior to printing and, even during our busier periods we will send a draught design to you on the same day by email for you to approve.

You can contact shurtz by email: shurtz@hotmail.co.uk , by telephone: 07530 703582 or just come along for a chat at Unit P21, Leigh Market Hall, Leigh, WN7 4PD, Tuesday-Saturday, 9.30 am-4.00 pm. Facebook us at https://www.facebook.com/shurtzofleigh

Additionally, garments which have been printed using heat pressed vinyl or heat pressed transfer paper MUST be washed at or below 40° C (under 30°C for nylon) AND must be both washed AND ironed while inside out. Do not tumble-dry. Do not dry-clean. Also, as you were told when ordering, photo-transfers WILL GRADUALLY FADE with washing.

Copyright Designs

Please note that we cannot use copyright designs when personalising garments. Acceptance of an order by shurtz is made on the assumption and condition that the customer has consent to use the required design.

Internet Based Printed Garment Suppliers

I don't want to appear to be overly 'banging on' about this, but we have again had a good number of people calling on stall with tales of woe regarding internet orders placed for printed garments. If you approach a t shirt printer in the real world, you can discuss in detail what it is that you want. You can check out display garments for size, quality and colour and feel and see for yourself resultant prints. You can in most cases see the agreed design on screen before you commit to print. You can arrange a definite completion date and perhaps ask for the order to be delivered. And, in the rare event that something goes pear-shaped, you can speak to a 'real' person to put things right in a timely fashion.

The really amazing thing is that in many/most cases, a locally sourced product will be better and less expensive and customer service of a higher quality than anything to be had via the internet.....yet people still take unnecessary risks by ordering printed garments on-line!!

In fairness, there are quality internet based printed garment suppliers.....it's just that it's almost impossible to know which they are.

Please be warned!!!

Leigh Centurions @ Shurtz

On Thursday 6 November 2014, we at shurtz had a visit from the lads at Leigh Centurions in a gesture of mutual support. A big thanks from us to the lads for taking the time out of their busy schedule. Good luck for next season. Here's hoping that it's every bit as good as this year's.

(Mis)Guided Busway

You may have read about (or experienced first hand) the traffic problems associated with the Leigh-Manchester guided busway infrastructure works currently under way in Tyldesley, Leigh and on the East Lancashire Road near Worsley. It really is a mess but, don't take my word for it, have a look at the Facebook page specially set up for people to have their own say on this topic. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Enough-is-Enough-Stop-the-Traffic-Chaos-in-our-area/587552811350711?fref=nf or just search on Facebook for Enough is Enough. Stop the Traffic Chaos in our area . It's having a mixed effect on market traders, being felt more I suspect by those traders who rely in part on business travelling in from out of town.....although there has been a noticeable reduction in footfall. Please speak up if you can add to the debate!

Also, much more about this debacle on Twitter

Photographs & Images Printed Onto Garments

The most cost effective way to achieve this is by way of photo transfer paper. You can, of course, 'try this at home', but results can be inconsistent and often very poor unless you have access to a commercial heat press and quality inkjet printer. Using a domestic iron cannot guarantee that the transfer manufacturer's guidance on pressing time and temperature are met and the results can suffer accordingly.

At shurtz, we press many hundreds of these transfers every year, always with excellent results. If the image you supply is crisp and clear so will be the result!

However, there are a few things you ought to know about these transfers. Although they are inexpensive to buy and apply, they have some drawbacks. The main disadvantage is that they will gradually fade with washing so cannot be considered permanent. That said, especially as regards smaller orders, they will be far less expensive than screen-printed, direct to garment printed and sublimation ink printed garments. Also on the up side, customer supplied photos and images can be cropped, edited, and text can be added if required before going to press.

Transfer printing is particularly suitable for one-off promotional and charity events, parties, stags/hens and even funerals. It offers flexibility and an excellent initial result at a very affordable price. We do have samples of transfer printed garments on stall for you to check out.

At the moment we can press transfers up to A4 (297mm x 210mm) in size, but, if the demand is evident, we always have the option of increasing this capability up to A3 (297mm x 420mm).

Call on stall, email or ring us to discuss your particular requirements. :)

An Interesting Case

A few days ago, a nice chap called on stall to ask whether we would press onto t-shirts various photo-prints that he'd bought through eBay. We replied that we would with the proviso that we couldn't guarantee the results since we were unfamiliar with the specific transfer products to be pressed.

As it happened, the results were very good, to such extent that the customer called back a few days after first collecting his order to thank us for what we'd achieved. He went on to admit that he hadn't been quite sure what to expect from a business operating from a market stall!! Perhaps there's still some bias out there regarding market traders!!?

So, I thought I'd list a few things that he and you ought to know about shurtz that may put at rest the minds of the (hopefully) few doubters who remain.

Largely based on customer demand, the much greater part of our operation involves designing and applying heat-pressed vinyl membrane onto a wide range of garments and other cotton, polycotton and polyester based items. We set out from day one to excel in what we did by first choosing only to use the finest vinyls. We have used three excellent products to date but now tend to stick to just one manufacturer. We've invested in quality software and high precision cutting equipment in order to create top class designs. The cut designs are then heat-pressed onto garments and other objects using premium equipment which guarantees even platen temperature and pressure to give a result which is long lasting.

I hope you can see that we take great pride in the quality service we've achieved at shurtz in such a short time. Many hundreds of satisfied and returning customers stand testimony to our successful customer care policy (an ethos we've developed in various trades and business ventures over a quarter of a century) which both promises and delivers efficiency, value for money and a top quality result. Hopefully, this brief note will help to convert the few who hold on to outdated prejudice against market based traders!!  ;)

Yet Another Thank You!

Again, my apologies for not being around on here much as of late, but August 2014 was something else. July had been a cracking month but paled by comparison. I'm going to resist the temptation to give ongoing sales reports, save to say that, year end sales to the end of August were over 50% up on the previous year's figures.

Outstanding customer care, prompt service, a quality product and outstanding value for money are undoubtedly the key factors in explaining our rocketing sales figures. Customers are returning to us time and time again to satisfy their garment print needs. There's been a particularly large increase in orders by local businesses to supply and print promotional garments and also for team-wear for darts, dominoes and pool teams.

Our custom design logos and font matching service are proving very popular. Rather than accepting plain text prints, our customers are enjoying unique bespoke designs to make their promo/team/corporate/holiday/stag/hen/charity/dance troupe and sportswear stand out from the rest.

So, thank you to all who've supported shurtz during our first two and a half years of development. Our intentions for the future are for much of the same. Outstanding customer care, prompt service, a quality product and outstanding value for money. It's not rocket science. It's simply what customers demand and what we at shurtz are more than pleased to supply.

Tuesday 22 July 2014

Thank You

Just a brief note to report a 34.4% increase in sales for the year to July 2014 as compared to the corresponding period ending this same time last year. Repeat custom has increased dramatically, but shurtz  has no doubt benefited in part by two players withdrawing from the local tee-shirt printing market whilst the pricing policy of others remains prohibitive.

So, a big thank you from us at shurtz to all those individuals, businesses and charities who have faithfully supported us so far this year. We are very much obliged.

Hello!!

Please don't think that shurtz is ignoring you, lol. Just been very busy. Not surprised, though. Feedback from customers confirms that we offer the best printing service in the neighbourhood. Best for customer care, best for design, best for speed of order turn-round, best for print quality......and, yes, and probably most importantly, best for price. The high level of repeat business says it all really. Try it out for yourself....we're sure you won't be disappointed.

Printing Flags & Banners

More and more we are being asked to print onto flags and banners for sports events, concerts and demonstrations. These flags/banners are typically 1500mm (60") x 900mm (36"). We welcome this work provided that the flags or banners are made of polyester, poly-cotton or cotton. Typically, we'll apply text in 150mm (6") - 225mm (9") high alphanumeric characters and other symbols. Prices vary dependent upon the amount of print product used but for the printing of a one off flag or banner you can expect to pay between £15-£30. Please contact shurtz for more details or call on stall to discuss your needs.

Internet Based Tee Shirt Printers

Although I'm sure there are some great tee shirt printers who are exclusively internet based, there is no doubt that there are a fair number of cowboys around. Had yet another upset mum on stall today telling a tale of woe. Her daughter and friends bought tees from an internet based supplier who had applied photo-transfers to the shirts. Despite following garment care instructions, most if not all of the transfers have started to peel!

On the whole tee shirt printing is a very competitive business so if you see an offer which appears too good to be true, it often will be.

There are many advantages to the customer in using printers who have a base which can be visited.

1. It's easier all round for a customer to discuss their requirements on a face to face basis. Specific design features such as fonts and graphics can be displayed on screen for approval, often there and then, or perhaps by email for approval prior to going to print.

2. You can supply your own tees (or whatever) being sure before going to print that they fit correctly.

3. In the unlikely event that you are not fully satisfied with the result, you can discuss this with a 'real' person.

One other piece of advice... Order your printed tees from a smaller town (such as Leigh) and avoid major town and city centres such as Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington. Simply put, their overheads are usually higher and these costs will be passed on to customers in the form of dearer prices.

Fluorescents

...make for simple but cool designs. Have a great time girls!

Apologies!

....for not posting here for a while but, truth is, I've just been too darned busy. April has been a mega-month by any standard, and by far the biggest for shurtz in two years of trading. Have just popped up for a breather! The expected return of many existing customers has been supplemented by many newcomers. And, based on feedback we are getting, there are lots of happy bunnies having just taken delivery of their shurtz orders. Price, proof bespoke design/s by email prior to order, speed of order completion, a quality product as per design and all round excellent customer care are all cited by customers as being reasons why they will call back time and again.

To you my sincere thanks. Hopefully, it won't be quite so long before my next post.

We Specialise In Prints Which Require Extra Thought and Care...

A nice selection shown above of a theme order for ten garments pressed to front and rear in four colours, six fonts and a customer supplied graphic. Note the balance and placing of the individual components. Attention to detail matters to our customers so it matters to us. This final result is remarkably similar to the concept originally submitted by the customer.

Glad To Be Back!

We are back and raring to go following a few days away! It seems to me that the silly season has started early this year based on the level of enquiries and orders we are taking. Looking forward to seeing regulars and new customers alike over the coming months. As always, you can expect nothing less than attentive service, professional advice, a quality product and a competitive price.

A Short Break

We're taking a short break in March to steel ourselves for the silly season. So, we'll be away, and the stall will be closed, from and including Wednesday 12th March 2014 to Monday 24th March 2014. So, shurtz will be back to normal on Tuesday 25th March at 9.30am.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Shurtz Branding

Whichever design you choose to embellish your clothing, shurtz will add (on request and free of charge), our corporate logo in order to make your garments look that little bit extra special. The logo is usually in red and is approximately 110mm wide x 50mm tall, and can be printed in a prominent position of your choice.

The Ultimate Personalisation!

Why not let shurtz take your fingerprint and convert the scan to a vector image? We can then print your tee-shirt, hoody or whatever with a truly bespoke design. Your colour, your text/style and, better still, your fingerprint!

All You Need At Leigh Market!

For those who don't already know....under one roof at Leigh Market (with ample free parking for up to four hours on the secure Tesco car park) you can buy a massive range of printing ready clothing (inc. safety-wear), plus, of course, shurtz can personalise anything we supply including anything you bring yourself. 2014 So Far...

What an interesting month so far! We've been doing overlays, multicolour prints, bespoke 'spoof' ads, holographics, glow in the darks.....in fact almost anything other than run of the mill stuff. Getting awesome feedback both on service and product. The same day proof service is very popular, too....see exactly what you're going to get before it is printed. And, it's often possible for me to create your design while you wait. These are the types of things that all garment printers should offer. Don't accept any less.
